The National Standards for undertaking road safety audits on trunk roads is contained within GG 119 of The Manual for Roads and Bridges. Further guidance can be found in the document ‘Road Safety Audit’ published by the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.

Some Local Highway Authorities operate their own set of standards based on these two documents.
